The short answer

Start from your monthly bill. On VECO ₱14.89/kWh (Sep 2026), the calculator’s own sizing for bills up to ₱7,400 is closest to the Starter (2.48 kWp, ₱110,000–₱129,000 installed), ₱7,500–₱10,300 the Home (3.72 kWp, ₱145,000–₱170,000), ₱10,400–₱16,300 the Family (5.58 kWp, ₱201,000–₱236,000) and ₱16,400–₱22,200 the Large Home (8.06 kWp, ₱283,000–₱333,000).

Those are budget-first prices with no battery. If brownout backup matters more than the lowest price, the backup-first versions add one to three 5.12 kWh batteries at ₱52,000 each. All of them are indicative until a site assessment confirms your roof and wiring; VAT treatment is confirmed in your proposal.

THE QUICK MATCH

Your bill points to one of four sizes.

Each range is the set of bills for which our calculator's recommendation is closest to that package, on VECO ₱14.89/kWh (Sep 2026): 4–5 panels for the Starter, 6–7 panels for the Home, 8–11 panels for the Family and 12–15 panels for the Large Home. The configurator shows the exact panel count for your bill. A backup goal covers more of the bill, so each backup-first package fits a smaller bill.

Savings and payback are estimates at each size’s typical bill, capped at that bill. VAT treatment is confirmed in your proposal. On MECO and CEBECO rates the same package fits a slightly higher bill, and the configurator below uses your provider. Above ₱22,200 (budget-first) the calculator sizes beyond this lineup.

Between two sizes? Lean smaller if most of your electricity is used after dark, because exports earn less than the power you use yourself. Lean larger if aircons run in the daytime or the household is growing.

“Size it from my bill” opens the calculator, which designs from your bill and may suggest a different panel or battery count than the package. A package you send with “Get this package quote” stays attached to your request.

Indicative package configurations built from our published component prices — confirmed after a site assessment. Prices are list prices shown as ±8%, before any personal discount code; VAT treatment is confirmed in your proposal. Savings are estimates from the calculator’s model: VECO ₱14.89/kWh (Sep 2026), 1,350 kWh per kWp a year, exports credited at 55% of the retail rate once net metering is approved, and a typical 3-bedroom day/night pattern. They are capped at your bill, because export credits beyond it roll over and are never paid out. Payback assumes rates rise 3% a year and panels lose 0.5% a year, and leaves out maintenance, inverter or battery replacement, financing and VAT. Backup assumes about 3.69 kWh delivered per 5.12 kWh battery (our planning estimate), and only circuits on the backup port stay on.

BUDGET-FIRST OR BACKUP-FIRST

Same panels, same inverter. The difference is the batteries.

Every package uses a Deye hybrid inverter, so a budget-first system can take a battery later without swapping the inverter.

Budget-first, on a sunny day
A home with a small solar array and no battery, using its own solar power by day and exporting the surplus to the grid.
Solar runs the home first; the surplus is exported for net-metering credit.
  • Solar energy
  • Grid
Illustration
Budget-first

The lowest upfront price.

Panels and a hybrid inverter, sized to cover most of your monthly use. By day the home runs on solar first and exports the rest for credit. It cuts the bill from day one, but when the grid fails a grid-tied inverter must switch off for line workers’ safety, so there is no backup until a battery is added.

  • ₱110,000–₱129,000 (Starter) to ₱283,000–₱333,000 (Large Home), installed
  • About ₱38,200–₱48,300 per kWp: larger arrays cost less per kWp
  • Add a 5.12 kWh battery later: ₱52,000 for the battery at today’s list price, plus fitting and any wiring changes
Backup-first, during a brownout
During an evening brownout, a home with solar and a battery keeps its essential lights on while the neighbourhood is dark.
The street is dark; the battery carries the circuits wired to the backup port.
  • Battery backup
Illustration
Backup-first

Savings plus the evening brownout.

The same array and inverter with one to three 5.12 kWh LiFePO4 batteries. We plan on each delivering about 3.69 kWh, around 7.4 hours of essentials (our estimate). Red-alert rotations in 2026 fell mostly in the late afternoon and evening, when the battery, not the panels, does the work.

  • Starter · Backup-first: 1 battery, about 7.4 hours of essentials
  • Home and Family: 2 batteries, about 15 hours of essentials, or about 8.2 hours with a 1 HP aircon at 0.9 kW
  • Large Home: 3 batteries, about 12 hours with that aircon on backup
Backup circuits stay on, not the whole house

Only what is wired to the inverter’s backup port runs during a brownout. Runtimes are energy-only estimates without solar recharge. If an aircon goes on backup, plan on two batteries. Read more in the battery backup guide and, for sizing by horsepower, solar for air-conditioned homes.

WHAT YOU PAY FOR

DECODING PACKAGE NAMES

What a ‘5 kW package’ should tell you.

Package names in Cebu mix up three different numbers. Some published packages call six panels on a 6 kW inverter a “6 kW” system; with 620 W panels that is 3.72 kWp, not 6.

kWpPanel capacity: panels × watts. It sets how much energy you make, about 112 kWh a month per kWp in Cebu.
kWInverter rating: the power it can deliver at once, and how many panels it can accept.
kWhBattery storage. A 51.2 V, 100 Ah battery is 5.12 kWh nominal; we plan on about 3.69 kWh delivered (80% usable, 90% conversion, an estimate).

The inverter is the smallest Deye hybrid that accepts the array with 20% headroom and covers a typical 3-bedroom home’s peak load, the same rule as our calculator. A lower peak load can mean a smaller inverter. Bill ranges are on VECO ₱14.89/kWh (Sep 2026).

CEBU CONTEXT

The right size also depends on your utility.

Rates, export credits, hosting limits and brownouts all change which package pays off best in your part of Cebu.

Residential all-in rates the calculator uses today. Cebu rates moved by ₱0.50–₱1.00/kWh in a typical month in 2025–26 (our comparison of the utilities’ monthly rate posts).

Exports earn less than self-use

Under net metering, power you export is credited at your utility’s generation charge, not the full rate: about 55–65% of the household rate in late 2026. Our numbers assume 55%, and never count credit beyond your bill, because credits roll over and are not paid out. An oversized budget package mostly exports its extra output, so size to your use or add a battery to keep more of it. More in the net-metering guide.

Brownouts land in the evening

The Visayas grid logged 93 yellow and 30 red alerts from January to early September 2026, with rotations mostly in the late afternoon and evening. At a Cebu energy forum in October 2026, SunStar reported shortages were likely through 2027, and the Energy Secretary said the solution is coming but late: “it will be a 2028.” That is the case for a backup-first package.

Hosting limits on your transformer

Utilities cap net-metered inverters on each transformer. Visayan Electric’s table allows about 30% of its kVA, so a shared 25 kVA transformer hosts about 7.5 kW. The Large Home’s 8 kW inverter may need that check, which is part of preparing your proposal. Utility notes: VECO, MECO, CEBECO.

FROM PACKAGE TO ROOF

Choosing a package is step one, not the contract.

A package is a starting configuration. The site assessment turns it into a proposal for your roof, your wiring and the circuits you want on backup.

  1. Pick a package

Use the configurator or the calculator. Your choice travels with your quote request.

  2. Request a quote

Share your bill and barangay, and what you want on backup if anything.

  3. Site assessment

Roof, shade, wiring, transformer and backup circuits are checked on site.

  4. Proposal and permit

The same line items, adjusted to your roof, with VAT and warranty terms confirmed. Before any work starts, the plans are sealed by a Professional Electrical Engineer and the electrical permit is obtained (RA 7920).

  5. Install and connect

Installation, configuration and testing, then the final electrical inspection and the net-metering application to your utility, with after-sales support after handover.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Package questions, answered plainly.

Prices in these answers come from the same component prices as the packages above, and update with them.

01Magkano ang 5kW solar system sa Cebu?

It depends on what the "5 kW" describes. 8 × 620 W panels (4.96 kWp) on a 5 kW Deye hybrid inverter come to about ₱179,000–₱210,000 installed without a battery, or ₱227,000–₱266,000 with one 5.12 kWh battery, at our list prices (October 2026). If "5 kW" only names the inverter, our packages built on it run from ₱110,000–₱129,000 (Starter, 2.48 kWp) to ₱240,000–₱282,000 (Home · Backup-first, 3.72 kWp with 2 batteries).

These are indicative prices from our published component prices, shown as a ±8% range. The site assessment confirms the final, itemised price.

02How many solar panels does a 5 kW system need?

With 620 W panels, 8 panels make 4.96 kWp, which is what most people mean by a 5 kW system. That is roughly 22 m² of panels, so plan on about 31 m² of roof: only about 70% of a roof face is usable once spacing and edge setbacks are allowed for. In Cebu it makes about 558 kWh a month on average at our cautious yield of 1,350 kWh per kWp a year: less in December and January, more in March and April.

03Is a 5 kW solar system enough for my home?

For many Cebu homes, yes. On VECO ₱14.89/kWh (Sep 2026), our calculator sizes 8 panels (4.96 kWp) for bills of about ₱10,400–₱11,800 a month when the goal is the lowest bill, or ₱8,600–₱9,700 when the goal includes backup (it then covers more of the bill). A bigger bill doesn't automatically mean a bigger system is better: exports earn only the generation charge, so size to the energy you use.

The quickest check is the configurator on this page or the calculator with your own bill.

04Can I start with a budget-first package and add a battery later?

Yes. Every package uses a Deye hybrid inverter, so a battery can be added without replacing the inverter. At today's list price each 5.12 kWh LiFePO4 battery adds ₱52,000 for the battery itself; fitting it, any wiring changes and the utility's review are confirmed at the time.

Two things to plan for: the circuits you want on backup must be wired to the inverter's backup port, and adding storage to a net-metered system can count as a modification that the utility reviews like a new application (ERC Resolution No. 15, s. 2025). If you think you'll add a battery, say so in your quote request so the proposal can plan the backup circuits from the start.

05Will a backup-first package run my aircon during a brownout?

Only the circuits wired to the backup port stay on, not the whole house. We plan on one 5.12 kWh battery delivering about 3.69 kWh (our estimate: 80% usable, 90% conversion), which is around 7.4 hours of essentials such as a fridge, fans, lights and Wi-Fi (about 0.5 kW). A 1 HP inverter aircon plus essentials draws roughly 0.8–1 kW, so each battery covers about 3½–4½ hours, and the battery's power limit matters as well as its energy.

We recommend two batteries whenever an aircon is on backup, which is why the Home, Family and Large Home backup-first packages carry two or three. Starter · Backup-first is sized for essentials.

06Are these fixed package prices?

No. They are indicative package configurations built from our published component prices, shown as a ±8% range and before any personal discount code. Your final price follows a site assessment: roof space and shading can change the panel count, your peak load can change the inverter, and long cable runs or extra protection can add materials. Every line stays itemised, so you can see exactly what changed. VAT treatment and warranty terms are confirmed in your proposal.

07Why does the smallest package cost more per kWp?

Some costs don't shrink with the array. The ₱45,000 inverter is the same on 4 panels as on 6, and each battery is ₱52,000 however many panels the roof holds. That is why Starter · Budget-first works out to about ₱48,300 per kWp while Large Home · Budget-first is about ₱38,200. Batteries add cost without adding any kWp, so the backup-first packages cost the most per kWp: from about ₱57,600 (Large Home · Backup-first) to about ₱70,200 (Home · Backup-first). That is storage you are paying for, not a worse deal on panels.

08How much is a 3 kW solar system in Cebu?

A 3 kW system with 620 W panels is 5 panels (3.10 kWp) on a 5 kW Deye hybrid inverter. At our list prices (October 2026) that is about ₱127,000–₱150,000 installed without a battery, ₱175,000–₱206,000 with one 5.12 kWh battery and ₱223,000–₱262,000 with two. It makes about 349 kWh a month on average in Cebu.

Small systems cost more per kWp because the inverter costs the same whatever the array size, so check whether a slightly larger package suits your bill. These are indicative ±8% ranges; the site assessment confirms the itemised price.

09Can I pay for a solar package in installments?

This page shows list prices and no financing terms. Government employees may qualify for a GSIS solar loan; check eligibility and current terms with GSIS directly. If you need to spread the cost, say so in your quote request.
